Goal

Simplicity with purpose. Impose limitations to fuel creativity, in order to facilitate learning best practices in both mobile design and user experience.

I started by exploring the standard deck of Bicycle cards and using generative AI to research etymology and generate inspiration.

Card Designs

Per the project limitations, I started figuring out a way to simplify the card designs using only line and shape. The focus was on capturing the essence of traditional cards using only the basics.

Experimental interactions

Experimental interactions - tapping a card will slide it out vertically, then dragging down will delete it.

More gamified interaction with a card turned over. If you tap the turned over card it will add another to the deck. Tapping a card that is face up will slide it towards you, and tapping will delete it.

Final interactions

Tapping the layout icon will change the view of the cards from vertical to stacked. Swiping left will expose a delete option

If you try to add more than six cards, or delete you last card you will get a warning and not be allowed to.

Prototype and skills learned

Mastered layout techniques and creatively applying Gestalt principles to make interfaces visually cohesive and engaging. Balanced fresh ideas with familiar UI patterns, shooting for an smooth experience. Feedback and error-checking kept the interface responsive and the user in control.
